I made it six years without ever going there. Why did I have to go and ruin my streak?

Someone sent me an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! about the challenges shorter guys face in the dating world. I can relate, because I'm 5'5" and have even had women as tiny as 4'10" tell me I'm "too short" to consider. The comments section of the story (if you can call it that) was just a minefield of ignorance and cattiness. And the very worst ones were getting recommended dozens of times.

o_0 Oh my God. I'm glad I don't fit these women's criteria. I don't want to date any of them.

Being relatively tall isn't that much fun either. I tend to smack my head on the corners of high cupboards that have been left open and whenever I have to crawl underneath a table. And I'm only 6'.

Lol it is sad really, but there are girls like that and I think they are in the majority. A lot of those comments are right, even if it is very sad that they are true.

A friend of mine who is around 5'8" (or around that, European here) was rejected by a girl, because he is not tall enough, those were her exact words. Then some days later, same girl come flirt with me and said that she likes me very much. I ask her, is it becasue I am 6'2" and she actually said - yes. I just walked at this instant.

Women with all their feminist crap actually don't like being with men that are shorter or even around their height. It makes them rather insecure. Which is totally hypocritical I think.

I'm 5'7" so I feel your pain. I don't think I could date a girl who's taller than I am. I would just feel weird about it. Granted, that's not a firm rule, but a general preference.

They're the definition of sexist feminists. I've tried posting thoughtful comments before, probably three or four, and I got ONE intelligible conversation out of them and neverending notifications of flame/hate posts for a week after each. I consider myself a true feminist. I do have subconscious bigoted views, of course, but try to quash them with logic whenever they pop up, and I have made sure to carefully qualify everything I say if it seems borderline, and even ask if I'm not sure. Doesn't matter, though, they really do generally just hate men over there. Except for that one lady with whom I had that conversation. Even the editors posted absolutely ridiculous responses to a post I made on some article about social pressures on revealing clothing a while back.

I love GroupThink (Jezebel's primary off topic community/forum), even with the feminist bent to the community, there are some wonderful people there (and I've been approved to comment/post there forever, and I do participate semi-regularly). I visit the Jez front page extremely rarely. Because a lot of the posts have a click bait approach. And the commenters can be, like you saw.

That said, I do think that generalizing Jez's commenters in general terms is just as dangerous as doing the same with Deadspin's, Gizmodo's or Jalopnik's. Even though there are some crazies on all of them, and depending on the topic, the ratio can veer into HOLY FUCK territory.

Meh. I go over there from time to time. I even see For Sweden over there sometimes (and he is balls deep in that comment section). Yeah some crappy comments get lots of recommends, but so what? That happens everywhere here on gawker. Getting a handful of recommends is easy.

Other people's arbitrary dating requirements don't affect me, even a bit. I've got my own, so naturally so will everyone else. *shrugs* What can I do if someone won't give me the time of day because of something I can't change? Find someone who will for the same reason.

It really doesn't matter how many people don't want you and why. The only one who counts is the one who does.

Being a skinny guy, I know that some females are not totally comfortable being "larger" than I am. It might be just a body issue thing where a girl does not like to appear bigger than her boyfriend.
